Drop seals for uneven floors

In real-world installations, floor surfaces aren’t always perfectly level – and that can compromise the performance of a standard drop seal. Planet drop seals offer a straightforward solution: the bevel lip.
Some models, such as the Planet RH and Planet RF, come with a bevel lip as standard. But for many other Planet seals, a bevel lip can be specified as an alternative to the standard gasket – helping the seal make reliable contact on sloping or uneven floors.
This optional component improves performance without requiring any on-site modifications or adjustments.
Choosing the right seal for different floor types
Not all uneven floors are the same – and Planet drop seals offer specific solutions depending on the condition:
Sloping floors:
All Planet drop seals with a standard gasket or optional bevel lip provide effective sealing on gently angled surfaces.
Concave or convex floors (e.g. domed, dished, or uneven in profile):
Use Planet RH or RF, or choose any compatible Planet seal with the optional bevel lip fitted.
These options help ensure a continuous seal even where floor level varies across the threshold – providing containment for acoustic, smoke, air, and light transmission.
Specifying the Right Bevel Lip
To specify a bevel lip, simply include one of the following order codes at the time of order – the seal will be supplied pre-configured with the bevel lip installed:
