Lorient has strengthened its UK finger guard protection portfolio with the introduction of the Planet FSR5000 and FSR6000 roller finger guard systems.
Precision‑engineered and manufactured in Switzerland, these high‑performance solutions are designed to deliver exceptional durability, reliability, and enhanced door safety in both internal and external environments.
Suitable for a wide range of door constructions - including timber, metal, PVC, and glass - the systems are compatible with both manual and power‑operated doors. This makes them ideal for new-build and retrofit applications across education, healthcare, commercial, and public sector buildings.
Addressing a critical safety risk
Each year, approximately 30,000 children are treated in A&E for door‑related finger injuries. The most serious incidents occur at the secondary closing edge, where the exposed hinge cavity presents a significant crushing hazard.
Planet finger‑guard systems have been specifically developed to reduce this risk, helping to protect both children and adults in safety‑critical environments.
To ensure long‑term performance, the systems (FSR6000) have been independently tested to 2 million operating cycles, demonstrating their suitability for high‑use applications.
New fire test evidence
The Planet FSR6000 finger guard has recently been successfully fire tested to BS EN1634‑1:2014+A1:2018, achieving certification for both FD30 and FD60 applications. This makes the system suitable for use on fire‑resisting doors where compliance and safety performance are critical.
