Lorient jointly sponsors GAI’s AGM Keynote Speaker – Richard Noble OBE
The Guild of Architectural Ironmongers (GAI) eagerly awaited AGM and Conference is fast approaching: 15th - 17th May. The theme of this year’s AGM is FastForward, and who better to be invited to be the Keynote Speaker than Richard Noble OBE − the current land speed record holder and Project Director of Bloodhound SSC.
The BLOODHOUND Super Sonic Car project is an engineering adventure aimed at developing the ultimate land speed record car on four wheels and to be the first vehicle to break the 1000mph barrier. This project is not just about speed and breaking records, it is about inspiring the next generation to pursue careers in Engineering, Science, Maths and Technology by engaging them in an open and fascinating project, which sets out to achieve the seemingly impossible.
Lorient, proud to be a holder of the Made in Britain marque is this year’s joint sponsor of the Keynote Speaker at the AGM, alongside Royde & Tucker. Maria Powell, Lorient Group MD said “We’re thrilled to be sponsoring Richard Noble OBE and the truly exciting and iconic Bloodhound project. As a leading designer and manufacturer of high performance sealing systems, we share many core values – design & innovation, British engineering, R&D and encouraging apprenticeships in STEM disciplines to name but a few. We can’t wait to hear about his journey and some of the huge challenges his sheer grit and tenacity have enabled him and the team to overcome”.
The AGM will see Maria take up her two year tenure as Guild President; while paying tribute to the valuable contribution of outgoing President John Jefferies during his term of office.
