Dunstan’s triumphant row raises over £4000 for charity!
On Saturday 5th September Dunstan Ferris, along with his friends successfully completed “The Great River Race” - a gruelling 22 mile row in a seine boat through London. The team’s relentless effort and sheer determination enabled them to row from Greenwich to Richmond in an impressive 2 hours 57 minutes - ahead of last year’s time. They finished a commendable 38th out of almost 300 boats. Rough conditions were experienced by all during the first half of the race as around six boats submerged, but unsurprisingly Dunstan’s team courageously battled on. We’re all exceptionally proud of Dunstan and his team for completing this tough challenge and for raising such a significant amount of money for charity.
A message from Dunstan:
“Thank you to those that supported me and the team in pledging your pennies to help raise funds in aid of “It’s in the bag” campaign for “Above and Beyond Charities”. Monies are still coming in thick and fast, but to date we have raised over £4,000* from this one event. Your kind donations are really appreciated and amongst many other things will go a long way in helping more and more GPs in the South West become aware of the symptoms associated with Testicular Cancer, so fewer men and their families have to go through the unnecessary ordeal I have been through. Thanks so much again, it really does mean a lot to me and to others who will benefit.”
