Lorient supports Fire Door Safety Week 2018

Lorient is delighted to support this year’s Fire Door Safety Week (24th September – 30th September) – a campaign that raises awareness about the critical role of fire doors, drawing attention to specific issues such as poor installation and maintenance. It also encourages building owners and users to check the operation and condition of their fire doors; and understand the legal commitments they have.

Now in its sixth year, this year’s FDSW campaign - Fire Door Five: Shutting the door on fire and smoke – aims to draw attention to the importance of properly-fitted and accredited fire doors as well as raising awareness of the dangers of smoke inhalation and the role that correctly installed fire doors can do in preventing the spread of both fire and smoke.

Designing and manufacturing, high-performance door sealing systems for almost 40 years, Lorient’s seals form a vital part of a fire door assembly, helping to defend buildings and their occupants against the spread of fire. Smoke seals restrict smoke movement around a building – giving people time to escape, and reducing property damage.

As part of Fire Door Safety Week, Lorient’s Specifications Manager, Sarah Lewis will be presenting at a number of events, discussing the importance of sealing systems for fire door assemblies.
