Leading door seal manufacturer Lorient has partnered with award winning, design-led innovators, Safehinge™. The collaboration introduces the IS9090 Safehinge™; a first-fit, integrated finger protection system for doors into Lorient's integrity® architectural seals range. The IS9090 Safehinge™ offers new standards in durability; life cost savings and aesthetics; as well as comprehensive fire and smoke containment - with a simplified door seal configuration.
30,000 children trap and seriously injure their fingers in doors every year in the UK, and 1,500 of these will require surgery (Source: ROSPA); and while these statistics are alarming, what's more alarming is the fact that they could be prevented. The ingenious design of the IS9090 Safehinge™ eliminates any opportunity for finger trappings to occur in the dangerous gap often found at the hanging stile. It utilises a specialist pivot, and integrates a curved aluminium profile with the door which provides total finger protection.
The IS9090 Safehinge™ is a versatile solution for a range of applications including: education, healthcare, leisure and commercial buildings to name but a few. Once installed, the IS9090 Safehinge™ will last the life of the door and will save 75% - around £500 per door - over the life of a school or a hospital.
The integrated finger protection system has successfully been tested with Lorient's acoustic, smoke and fire seals in accordance with BS 476: Pt.22: 1987 and BS 476: Pt.31.1:1983; tested for up to 30 minutes for single and double leaf doors; as well as 60 minutes for single leaf doors. Please note for 30 and 60 minutes fire and smoke performance, the IS9090 Safehinge™ must be used with a specific Lorient door sealing system. The IS9090 Safehinge™ offers superior aesthetics - its aluminium profile features a sleek, natural anodised finish to enhance any doorset; it is also suitable for use with veneer, laminate, paint-grade and other door finishes; and complements other perimeter seals from our integrity® range. The integrated finger protection system is quick and easy to install and allows for on-site adjustability.
