From primary care centres (such as doctors' and dentists' surgeries), to large city hospitals, doors play an important role both in limiting the spread of smoke and fire in the building, as well as preserving privacy and confidentiality. Many need to withstand high traffic and harsh treatment; some need to withstand vigorous cleaning with strong chemicals. With new accessibility requirements (such as Approved Document M, BS 8300 and the Disability Discrimination Act) ease of access for all is a vital consideration too.
To meet all the requirements efficiently and cost-effectively, an integrated approach in essential - and the Lorient sealing systems recommended in this section have been designed with all this in mind.
The following pages give options for:
- Smoke and fire-rated doors - 30 minute smoke and fire performance, with acoustic performance
- Smoke and fire-rated doors - 60 minute smoke and fire performance, with acoustic performance
- Non-fire rated doors - to provide smoke and acoustic performance
- Non-fire rated, high performance acoustic door constructions - to achieve a minimum of 35dB Rw acoustic performance
Options are given for single and double leaf doors.
These are our typical recommended solutions, to cover the majority of installations. However, Lorient has a vast library of test evidence, and there are plenty of alternative solutions we could suggest! We would always advise you to check the fire door manufacturer's test evidence to ensure the correct sizes of fireseals are used.
